The Last King of Scotland

We had this DVD in the house for weeks before we could face watching it. Thank goodness, it did not portray as much violent brutality as it could have. It turned out to be more a character study of Idi Amin as shown in contrast to a fictional young Scottish doctor who becomes enmeshed in the regime. I found it a powerful film, and I am glad I saw it. As Lord Acton said, "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely", and this movie shows why that is so.
